Mwanza

The Rock City — Bismarck Rock, Saanane Island and the heartland of Sukuma culture.

Perched dramatically on Lake Victoria, Bismarck Rock is the symbol of Mwanza and a perfect photo spot at sunrise or sunset. A short boat ride away, Saanane Island National Park is the only wildlife park inside a city in Tanzania, with zebras, impalas and monkeys, hiking, fishing and birdwatching over the lake. Mwanza is also the heartland of the Sukuma, Tanzania’s largest ethnic group, with dance performances, storytelling and cultural centres.
